About

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, I have been involved in the technology and energy sectors for over 20 years, specializing in building the operations and business strategies for small, innovative companies.

I was part of the Internet wave when it first started back in 1994, helping to create one of the first ISP’s in Canada, Internet Express. I later co-started one of the first 2.5 / 3G wireless infrastructure companies in North America, Voxaura Technologies.

I now split my time between NeoTerra Capital, a company that specializes in developing early-stage GREEN technology companies and Sunfire Ventures, a company I use to consult with various early-stage technology companies.

My aspiration is to shape ideas that will help to change the World! My interests lie in crafting businesses around leading edge, disruptive products that focus on the information technology, materials technology, and energy technology fields.

Education

I received my high school diploma in 1990 from Collingwood School, a young, very progressive private school that attracted many international students. As one of the founding students, I was in the second graduation class and had the privilege of experiencing the School’s evolution over the six years that I was there.

From 1990 to 1996 I basically worked full-time. Between 1990 and 1994 my work was scheduled around my attendance at Capilano College, where, being unsure of my career path in my first year, I initially enrolled in a course of general studies. However, by my second year I had elected to pursue a business career and therefore entered the Business Management program, focusing on Accounting and Finance, from which I graduated in 1994.

I received my Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management from Royal Roads University in Victoria in 1997. Again, I had the privilege of being one of the first students of this University and a member of the first graduating class.

In 1998, I enrolled in a one year MBA program at Pepperdine University, in California, which was geared for students with a business undergraduate degree and some business experience. I graduated from the program in 1999 with a major in Strategic Finance and Marketing.

Experience

My foray into the technology sector began in the early ’90s when I helped shape several companies that were in the forefront of the internet and wireless revolution. In 1994, a computer tech friend and I co-developed and operated one of the first internet service providers and web developers in Canada, Internet Express. In 2001, I participated in the business planning for Universco Broadband Solutions, a fixed wireless provider which later became MetroBridge Networks. In late 2001, I joined with a business contemporary and friend to assist a Korean based developer and producer of next-generation RF sub-systems for the mobile wireless industry in restructuring and re-branding in order to gain entry into the North American market. In 2003, I assisted Mobile Presence Solutions, a wireless payment software solutions company with its business and strategic planning to penetrate the Japanese, Chinese, and Malaysian markets.

In late 2004, I expanded my focus to include infrastructure development in the energy sector and was instrumental in winning a major infrastructure concession in Russia, which proved to be a catalyst for the development of my passion for the environmental and alternative energy sectors. Since then, I have aided a variety of energy sector companies with their business planning, production planning, and general infrastructure OEM and deployment planning, which has involved interaction with business and governmental entities in South America, the UAE, China, Canada, and the United States.

In late 2008, after the financial crash, I started consulting in the tech industry and for companies in the Green products industry. I now split my time between working on projects and consulting with companies in the energy, tech, and Green products sectors.

I am always looking for synergistic relationships. Please contact me if you want to explore any ideas or opportunities.
